![]() In Streets of Rage 4, you get to play many beloved characters of the franchise in an extremely well-made beat ’em up game that has beautifully hand-drawn graphics and very well-designed gameplay. I’ve always loved the design choices, soundtrack, and advancements this franchise brought to the beat ’em up genre. Therefore, Streets of Rage 4 is automatically one of the best Mac games on Steam. Streets of Rage is by far one of my favorite franchises. Also, following Dark Souls’ footsteps, the bosses are a visual spectacle on top of being mechanically tricky and fun to fight. There is a fair amount of personalization, secrets to be discovered, and a great variety of challenging enemies with their own behavior and attack patterns. Generally speaking, the game often feels like a Metroidvania, but its methodical approach to combat is heavily inspired in Dark Souls. The world is not linear, so there’s a lot of exploration to be done. You must explore the weird world of Cvstodia, upgrade your skills, learn enemy patterns, and succeed in your peregrination. In this game, you play as the penitent one.
